| Eligibility
- Competitors must be 21 years old as of the first day of the competition.
- Competitors must be “amateurs” in the sense that their primary occupation is not teaching or playing classical piano. Having some students is fine, as is an occasional paid performance.
| Audition Tapes/CDs
- Each competitor is required to submit an audition CD or cassette. Ten to fifteen minutes is fine.
- Selections on the recording do not need to be what you will be playing in the competition.
| Repertoire
- Free choice of any classical repertoire. A variety of styles is recommended but not mandatory. If a piece is outside the standard repertoire, a score must be presented to the judging panel.
- Selections may be repeated in subsequent rounds.
- Single movements of sonatas or suites may be performed as separate selections.
- Memorization is not required. Page turners will be provided if needed.
| Timing Requirements
- We hold strictly to both the minimum and maximum timing requirements for each round.
| Preliminary round: 10-12 minutes |
| Semifinal Round: 16-20 minutes |
| Final Round: 25-30 minutes |
- Your time for each piece in your round starts at your first note and ends at your last note. Audience applause and your pre- and between-piece preparation times do not count.
- If you exceed the time allotted our timer will ask you to stop.
