2008 Celebration of the Amateur Pianist
August 14-17, 2008
Colorado Springs, Colorado |
|
This year’s Celebration will feature:
* A master class
* An interesting and informative seminar
* The popular Carnegie Room Recital at the Penrose Public Library
* Social events and receptions
* Recital by selected amateurs
* A professional recital
From the first thirty applications received, four amateur pianists
will be selected to play in a joint recital, with the opportunity to
play a 30-45 minute segment of that recital. The recital will be in
beautiful Packard Hall, which features a world-class Hamburg Steinway
concert grand piano. The facility and the pianos are provided to API
by Colorado College.
The deadline for audition recordings (see application form) is May 1,
2008.
Selections will be made and announced by June 1, 2008. Fees must be
paid by June 15, 2008. Withdrawals after that date will result in
forfeiture of fees.
Those pianists not selected as recitalists are invited to participate,
with others, in the Saturday recital at the Penrose Public Library,
Carnegie Room, in downtown Colorado Springs. Fifteen-minute programs
are allowed in this recital. If you have attended this event before,
you will remember that it is one of our most popular activities, for
the performers as well as the audience.
PLEASE NOTE: This year’s Celebration will NOT include the Rocky
Mountain Amateur Competition. The next competition will take place in
August, 2009.
We’re sure you will also enjoy our seminar, recital and master class
by Dr. Fred Karpoff. He was so well received two years ago that we
could hardly wait to have him back. His bio and a description of the
seminar topic may be found at the end of this message.
Packard Hall has many practice rooms, and we can provide all the
practice time you desire.
You will also meet new friends, reconnect with old friends, and share
your passion for music with other participants and an appreciative
audience. |
