Welcome to the Australian Piano Music Competition. This round is for NSW Students.

There are two parts to applying

  1. Part 1: Online form

  2. Part 2: Paying the $45 fee and emailing to confirm

Conditions of Entry

  1. Eligibility

    1. The competition is open to all NSW Primary School, NSW Secondary School students and NSW Tertiary Students 

    2. Participants must be currently enrolled in a NSW education institution and may be asked to prove this.

    3. Entrants under 18 years of age must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian to participate.

    4. Online students who study at a NSW institution are allowed to apply regardless of their physical location.

  2. Registration

    1. All entries must be submitted via the online registration form by 30 August 2025. 

    2. A non-refundable entry fee of $45.00 must be paid at the time of registration.

    3. Incomplete or late entries will not be accepted.

  3. Competition Categories and Performance Guidelines

    1. Participants will be grouped into the following age categories:

      • NSW Primary School Students - Australian piano work under 4 minutes

      • NSW Secondary School Students - Australian piano work under 6 minutes

      • NSW Tertiary School Students - Australian piano work under 9 minutes

      There is no minimum time limit and the best performance, regardless of length or difficulty, will be chosen.

  4. Judging and Results

    1. Performances will be evaluated by a panel of distinguished pianists and Australia composers.

    2. Judging criteria include technique, musicality, interpretation, and stage presence.

    3. Judges' decisions are final and non-negotiable.

    4. Finalists will be announced on 04 September 2025

    5. Finalists are invited to perform at the Sydney Opera House on the 17 September 2025.

    6. If for some reason a finalists cannot perform, they will retain the title of finalist but will not be able to win 1st, 2nd or 3rd place.

    7. Winners will be announced at the end of the finalist’s recital.

  5. Awards and Prizes

    1. Finalists will be innovated to perform at the Sydney Opera House.

    2. Prizes will be awarded to the top performers in each category.

    3. Certificates of participation will be given to all entrants.

  6. Code of Conduct

    1. Participants and their families are expected to behave respectfully toward judges, organizers, and other competitors.

    2. Any form of misconduct may result in disqualification.

  7. Media Release

    1. By entering, participants and their guardians agree to allow the use of photographs, video, and audio recordings taken during the competition for promotional purposes.

  8. Cancellations and Refunds

    1. Entry fees are non-refundable except in the case of event cancellation.

    2. Organizers reserve the right to cancel or reschedule the event due to unforeseen circumstances.

  9. Liability

    1. The organizers are not responsible for personal injury, loss, or damage to property during the event.

    2. Participants attend and perform at their own risk.

  10. Acceptance of Conditions

    1. Submission of an entry form constitutes acceptance of these Conditions of Entry by the participant and their guardian.
